General Description
• Provide specific support on environmental matters to the relevant Manager
• Prepare or review any Environmental related documents as required
• Review and ensure that Environmental principles are incorporated and applied
• Lead in providing progress reports as and when required
• Identify, develop, implement and promote Programme and Project required
• Environmental policies
Skills and Competencies
• Minimum of 12 years overall post graduate experience contributing in a similar position to the environmental and sustainability aspects of major infrastructure Projects or programmes. Preference will be given to Drainage Pipeline, Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pumping Stations, TSE Pipelines, Surface Ground Water Systems, Underground Services and Civil Structures related
experience.
• Knowledge of wide‐ranging environmental issues relating to complex infrastructure Projects
• Technically proficient in environment and sustainability related matters
• Effective in building good working relationships within complex organisation, both internally and with various Project stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
• Support managers in the preparation and implementation of environmental practices both on site and within the office environment.
• Working closely with stakeholders to ensure that environmental procedures and policies are being applied on a Programme and Project level
• Conduct site audits
• Conduct background studies, prepare or review Environmental Impact Assessment reports
• Review of construction environmental management plans
• Provide technical support to Ashghal Management, and act independently as may be required under certain circumstances
• Work within the department to identify concerns, areas for improvement, and then act to streamline processes
• Continually seek and capture lessons learned from the process and use this intelligence to improve systems and tools
• Liaise with the Design/Supervising Consultants/Contractors on all environmental matters
• Monitor policies and procedures and report any areas where improvement is required
• Ensure Programme and Project wide compliance with environment legislation
• Identify trends, vulnerabilities and liabilities that can be avoided by preventive techniques and procedures and recommend necessary corrective actions and measures
• Liaise with the Ministry of Environment and other stakeholders.
Qualifications & Criteria
Mandatory Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University in an appropriate field or equivalent
• Evidence of suitable environmental certification, such as GSAS, ISO 14001
• Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken
• Driver’s License
Desirable requirements
• Master’s degree in a relevant field
• Arabic language skills
• Experience of working in Qatar and / or the Gulf region
